After a decade of experimentation in techniques of chemical mixing on canvas, Christie is confident of what her medium will do under different conditions. She uses this knowledge to achieve a brushless fluidity and capture dynamic painterly interactions. She says, " paint allows me to create and record extraordinary exchanges of energy." In this process Christie becomes both the creator and spectator of her work. '...working as an abstract expressionist, what the viewer gets from my work is subjective..." She believes that the role of her artwork is only truly completed in the eyes of the person viewing it.

Caroline Christie holds a Bachelor of Art and a BA Architecture from University of Cape Town. 12 years ago she moved from South Africa to Western Australia to pursue her Expressionist painting career. Christie has shown her work in several solo and group exhibitions in Perth, Melbourne and Cape Town. She has had a book published about her practice entitled 'Processing Paint, The Life and Work of Caroline Christie'. Caroline Christie's work is part of numerous important public and private collections both nationally and internationally.
