Robert JACKS

Robert Jacks (1943-2014) was one of Australia's leading and most consistent abstractionists.

From 1966 Jacks exhibited extensively throughout Australia with his paintings remaining true to the spirit of abstraction for the over four decades following. Jacks taught in Canada and New York in the 1970s, returning to Australia in 1978 as a foundation member of Australia's contemporary abstraction movement.

Jacks was awarded an Order of Australia in 2006. He held over 70 solo exhibitions as well as numerous survey shows and group exhibitions.

His work is held by numerous collections including the National Gallery of Australia.
