In 2008 Johnson had a major survey exhibition in Sydney celebrating 40 years of painting. He was also invited to participate in the 2008 1st International Painting Symposium in Damascus, Syria. In 2007 he was recipient of the Regional Art Award in the Thursday Plantation Sculpture Show. Ken Johnson's work is part of several high profile public, corporate and private collections in Australia, England, Japan, Israel, Syria and the United States.

Ken Johnson's beautifully crafted paintings are a vehicle for his craftsmanship and virtuosity. They explore the experience of exotic places - the buildings, people and art of many cultures. His images express philosophical positions through allegory and mystical vision, yet satisfy as works of serenity and beauty that complement modern life.

'Ken Johnson has a delightful talent for the acute perception of 'mood' in landscape. His keen sensibility can embrace that exquisite quietness of sea and estuary - a theme largely untouched in Australian art'. John Olsen.
