Andrew Baines makes the headlines again

August 22, 2012

Andrew Baines made headlines recently with another of his unique live installations.

While serving as inspiration for a future painting the installation entitled "The Coalition of the Constipated" was also to raise the issue of the lack of toilets at Adelaide's Henley Beach.

Twelve volunteers, including former immigration minister Amanda Vanstone and Adelaide radio personality Bob Francis dressed in suits and bowler hats sat on toilets placed along the beach on a cold winter's morning.

The stunt appears to have worked with the local council announcing that it will work with the community to find a solution to the problem.

The story was picked up worldwide.

Andrew Baines is planning to have a live installation in Melbourne in the coming months. If you would like to volunteer to take part please contact us at art@hothamstreetcontemporary.com
